· Few steps to get to the clip, with a direct link whenever possible
· Excellent quality audio without distortion, static, or other problems
· Providing a written transcript to provide at the end for a final listening
Content
- · Interesting content to motivate participants to learn more and adapted to students’ immediate needs
· A wealth of user-friendly supplementary materials & good supporting activities
· Making use of the language & vocabulary that is part of my theme-based unit
· Using the grammar and vocabulary my students currently need: videos
· Having a cultural component to add to students cultural knowledge base
· Level of material allowing improvement of listening skills, not discouragement
· Short length, below 4 minutes
Listening Skills
· Attention to one or more of these objectives:
1 triggering ideas for discussion and writing
2 listening comprehension
3 developing critical listening skills
4 practicing pronunciation
· Incorporating listening strategies and teaching of listening sub-skills
· Promoting higher order thinking skills
· Providing authentic online tasks
· Engaging several senses: visual, mental, and the sense of need specific to the course content and learner expectations
· Including pre, during and post listening exercises for reinforcement
